We are absolutely delighted with the participation from all our children on World Book Day. There are some fabulous costumes ranging from Superheroes, Where's Wally, Harry Potter, Hermione, Little Red Riding Hood, Robin Hood, Batman and the Boy in the Dress. It is great to see the whole school involved.
We have produced a short video so that you can see the huge variety of costumes.
Table Tennis Tournament
On Wednesday the 12th November, Oliver, Daniel, Ben and Leila attended a table tennis tournament at Morten. We got maximum points of 106 by winning all of our matches, coming home with a trophy and full of pride. Thank you to Aimee for taking and supporting us and thank you to Mr. Jones for organising for us to go and for running table tennis club.

Cross Country Report
On Thursday the 13th of November, Ivy Chimneys cross country team travelled to High Ongar Primary School for a running race. The First race was the year three and four girls who all did extremely well. Next were the year three and four boys with our top 3 runners all coming in the top five. After that were the year five and six girls with Leila coming 2nd on a slightly longer route. Finally were the year five and six boys, who all came in the top 15.
Everyone did so well that we retained the trophy for coming first overall.

On 20th March the Flash Dancers from Ivy Chimneys travelled to Chipping Ongar Primary School to take part in the annual dance festival. Children from throughout the school took part, performing dances and sharing routines with several other schools from the local area. All of the children were fantastic, with brilliant performances of some very complicated dance programs - a good time was had by all.
As usual, these events could not happen without considerable help from many people. Thanks for all the supporters who came along to encourage our performers and especially to Sam Roberts, whose enthusiasm and commitment make these events possible and so enjoyable for all our children.
On Monday 24th of March Ivy hosted a home match against Moreton. We started strongly with an early goal from Louie. There followed a lot of midfield play and corners for the opposition but thankfully Louie scored again to take us into half time 2-0 up.
Straight from the kick off we came out strongly. Our defence was solid, our mid field composed and our strikers made the most of all the opportunities given them by their team. Oliver slotted a ball across the goal into the right corner, quickly followed by Louie for his hat-trick. We were now 4-0 ahead. There were one or two good saves from Archie but he was mostly left unchallenged.
With ten minutes to go, Eli posted home goal number five, Oliver got another and finally Louie took his tally up to four as Ivy sealed their latest victory, 7-0.
Our next match is away at Dr. Walkers, we hope for another victory...

On Monday 10th March Ivy Chimneys made the short trip to Stapleford Abbotts, to play a football match.
It was a very tight game but we managed to get the first goal with a great finish from Oliver. We carried on to create chances in the first half and just before the whistle went Josh had a cracking shot, which went straight into the bottom corner.
In the second half we carried on where we left off as Louie netted one past the keeper.
Then the opposition had some chances but could not convert them due to some fantastic saves from our goalkeeper Archie. We then came forward to score with Louie’s second goal to make the final score 4-0 to Ivy.

The sun shone brightly and the weather was warm as the children left Ivy for the walk to Coopersale Hall School. The annual Epping & Ongar Cross Country Relays were under way and past Ivy teams had always performed well...
First off were the year 3/4 girls team. Olivia was running first leg and immediately hit the front, holding the position for the entire 400m hilly, but thankfully dry course. Second and third leg were run by Annie and Lily and they were against stiff competition, coming in 3rd place for the handover to Dharia. Despite closing a significant gap to second place, she was unable to better an incredible 3rd place finish for our girls, medals were on the cards!
Next off were the year 3/4 boys, and this was a lesson in team tactics and determined running. Beau took the lead in the first leg and they never looked back. First Jacob then Toby and finally Theo increased their lead in every leg and romped home well ahead of all other finishers - first place was never in doubt.
The year 5/6 girls had a lot to live up to.... and that they did! Leila led from the front from the starting whistle, building a healthy lead for the handover to Nicole. This gap was increased further by one of the gutsiest runs I've witnessed for a long time. Yet another slick baton change saw the girls move further ahead, with Hannah now taking her turn at the front and putting yet more clear air between us and the opposition. Eliza took off from the line and the result was never going to change - an amazing victory some 50m ahead of the second placed team.
The next event of the day was the year 5/6 boys race, could we bring home medals in every event? Ben was on the first leg and met very strong opposition, finishing strongly on the uphill section and passing several other runners to hand over in 6th place. Oliver followed Ben, taking another runner in a fast leg to hand the baton over in 5th. Running the penultimate leg was Joshua, and he managed to close in and catch both of the runners in 4th and 5th place. With medals for 3rd place now available, Henry only had to hold the position, catching the second runner some 50m ahead seemed unlikely...
A strong and fast final leg ensued, and Henry gradually closed the gap to second place. Over the last 100m he kicked for home, passed the runner in front and crossed the line to secure our last podium finish in second place.
Finally, our reserve runners had their chance to shine. They had supported all the others without complaint, knowing full well that they were reliant on another athlete dropping out to take their place. A separate race was run with Daisy, Alex and Annabelle representing Ivy against another 10-15 runners from other schools. And shine they did! Alex crossed the line in 3rd place overall, very closely followed by Daisy in 4th, with Annabelle finishing merely seconds behind.
Well done to all our athletes for an immaculate display of talent, perseverance and determination along with excellent behaviour and sportsmanship from all. Thanks for all our supporters who enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant and perfectly thrilling afternoon of inter school sport.
Good luck to Henry and Dharia in the final event of the season, the Essex finals, on 28th March.

On Monday 3rd of March, Ivy played High Ongar at Ivy Chimneys School. Despite the threat of heavy rain, a waterlogged pitch and very long grass, we decided to go ahead with the game.
We started off well with Louie scoring 3 minutes before half time. But unfortunately they got a goal past our keeper just before the whistle blew, to make the score one all.
We then kicked off for the second half, this time playing down the field. We then had an opportunity which was taken well by Oliver, to make the score 2-1 to us. Before long, Oliver had scored another, making it 3-1 to Ivy.
Shortly afterwards, Louie scored again to make it 4-1. The next goal was scored by Eli, making a brilliant run down the line to make it 5-1 to us.
Next it was Dan’s turn to score a brilliant goal, shooting just outside the box to make it 6-1. Finally Louie scored the last goal of the match, making the final score 7-1 to our team.

On Friday the 14th February 2014, Ivy Chimneys Primary School took part in the Year 3 and 4 sports hall athletics event. It was held at Debden Park School.
Everyone who took part did really well. We are all proud to say Ivy Chimneys won! The events we had to do were 2x2 relay, 4x1 relay, 1x1 relay, standing long jump, under and over relay run, obstacle relay run, javelin throw and speed bounce.
All the schools who took part were amazing. Buckhurst Hill came 5th, Thomas Willingale came 4th, St John Fisher came 3rd, Theydon Bois came 2nd and Ivy Chimneys came 1st.
